There were good points and bad points to having been basically run out of London. Alec missed his extended family, but the whispers and the not so subtle hints about him no longer being a 'proper Nephilim' had goaded them to leave the familiar behind and take up traveling more extensively than they had before. It'd meant that he could embrace his more scholarly tendencies and make a name for himself among both the Shadowhunters and Downworlders... not that the Shadowhunters would ever admit to needing the help of the sorts of mystical artifacts that Alec and Magnus now specialized in finding.

Between his Shadowhunter skills and his wife''s magic, they had managed to create a fine reputation for themselves and earn enough that the family could travel the way Alec and Magnus had dreamed of as teenagers. They'd traveled the world at least a dozen times, trying to satisfy a sense of curiosity that never seemed to fade. At least their bank accounts never suffered through their adventures.

Their kittens had decided to tag along, even if they always made comments about the honeymoon never ending for their parents. Although, Alec figured that there had been a reason for the twins tagging along. A certain green, immortal one that had been strangely nervous the night before during dinner until Lex announced that she was dating Ragnor and demanded their blessing. Ragnor looked shell shocked at the sudden declaration. Mal muttered to himself while banging his head against the table. Alec had stared at the warlock, silently warning him that there would be a 'talk' in his future. And Magnus...

Magnus had glared enough that Alec was surprised that something hadn't caught on fire from the intensity of her reaction. He wasn't quite sure why she was so worked up about it, but he'd let her deal with the situation however she wanted, keeping eye on her so that nothing did catch flame. He only became concerned when Magnus began to drink more than she should, concern turning to true worry then fear when she decided to relive a famous fairy tale and make a carpet fly.

Eventually, the four of them had managed to get her back on the ground and in bed. Alec curled up on top of the covers, holding his love while she slept it off, shooing away the kittens and Ragnor, knowing that the hangover would be bad enough without the embarrassment of having the rest of the family witnessing it.
