Even being ecstatic over having his family in the Library, Alec still had worries and concerned. It was probably big brother instincts and a few hints of his old self-doubts but he couldn't ignore certain thoughts. Especially when Sebastian had mentioned he thought Jace was acting weird and had mentioned something about a girl. That was strange enough since Jace should be madly in love with Clary but when the name mentioned wasn't one that Alec knew from home or the Library, he couldn't help wondering what was going on with his parabatai.

He hadn't been there for Jace the first time he'd gone through the post Valentine grief and torment. But this time...

When he was sure that Jace would in his room, Alec made his way to his brother's quarters, telling himself that there was nothing to worry about. The Cat fixed Jace's runes. The protections were in place. He was being unreasonable. He was being the overprotective brother.

Knocking on the door, he sighed, dragging a hand through his hair. Jace had to be all right. And if he wasn't... Sebastian - Jonathan - was an entire reality away. Jace was safe. There was no reason for Alec to worry. Even if Jace was supposedly acting a little weird...

Skills and Powers: (Whatever special powers your character might have will be inhibited in the Library itself. You do not want to damage the Library and make it harder to survive there. They will boost back to normal when through a portal.)

Bookmark Description:
(The bookmark will appear on your person when you wake up in the Library. It has an appearance when not activated, you tell us what it looks like. Otherwise it will act like a tablet, communication device, and way to keep tabs on your progress.)

History and Personality:
(Please provide a link to the character's history. If there isn't a link available, then write a short history that is no longer than 500 words. The history can be a list of important events if needed. Personality needs to be 400 words at the very least. Give as much canon as possible. For those that have characters with a small amount of canon, you are allowed to use head canon. But only for those obscure characters, do not write head canon for someone like Dean Winchester that has ten seasons of canon to work on.)

Remember, we are looking most specifically at your writing samples. Put your best into it! If you tried our test drive meme, you may link the thread to the style it fits below.

(This will be done in brackets and can be a video or audio post that you would make on the main community.)

Third Person/Prose:
(This is done in prose with sentences and paragraphs. Show character introspect as well as actions and speaking. This is the style that will be used on the Logs community.)

No matter how much Alec wanted Magnus to stay with him, it was impossible while he was at the Institute.  During the day, the other Shadowhunters would let her follow him around, giving her a wide berth and glaring at them both but at night, it was forbidden for her to remain on the grounds.  Not that Magnus had followed those rules.  She snuck into his room most nights, curling up with him as they both fought off nightmares based on the things Sebastian had done to them.

The nightmares became less frequent the more time they spent together and Alec found himself hoping for her to visit, his mood turning dark whenever she couldn't be near.

No matter how often he told himself that she had to work, he could never shake off the sadness that lingered in his thoughts whenever she didn't sneak into his room.  After a few nights' absence, Alec's nerves were strung tight, afraid that Sebastian had found her.   When he was sure that no one would notice he was missing, he changed into his gear and slipped out of his quarters, instinct and her hints about her life away from the Institute guiding him into the village.  Listening in to a few rumors about the new girl who cast spells led him to a small hut that made him pause.

He had to be wrong... Magnus couldn't be here...

Before moving toward the hut, he checked for any sign that there was anyone nearby.  When he was sure they'd both be safe, he crept to the door, calling out to her before even trying the door.  "Magnus, are you here?"

Alec woke to the sound of arguing and the feeling that his skull would split in two if he did anything more strenuous than breathing too deeply.  Something that he doubted he could do judging by the way his chest ached with each inhalation, his body aching as if he'd been thoroughly beaten.  Which, Alec realized was true.  His memory was hazy but he remembered being attacked, outnumbered and separated from his siblings.  He'd fought hard, but he'd been overwhelmed, taking a blow to the head that had caused the world to fade to a terrifying black.

But it seemed that someone had rescued him.  Or more than one someone from the voices that argued nearby.  Cracking open one eye, he immediately regretted the movement as the flat surface beneath him rocked, almost causing him to be ill.  Then, he realized that the surface was moving in a way that meant that he had to be on a boat.

Getting control of his stomach, Alec opened both eyes this time to see that he was on a bed and near the foot three people argued.  One had green skin.  Another had blue.  The other's complexion was a shade that mundanes would have considered normal, if darker than what was socially acceptable.

Their words washed over him but without true context, almost lulling him to sleep despite the harsh tones.  Alec began to drift out of consciousness when someone mentioned throwing him off the boat.  Since he assumed that they most likely weren't near land and even if they were, he was in no shape to swim to shore, that meant that one of them wanted to kill him.  He began to sit up, biting his lip to silence sound that caught in his throat as his body protested the movement.  "Killing me would be a bad idea."
alec_lightwood: (Nervous)
There were good points and bad points to having been basically run out of London. Alec missed his extended family, but the whispers and the not so subtle hints about him no longer being a 'proper Nephilim' had goaded them to leave the familiar behind and take up traveling more extensively than they had before. It'd meant that he could embrace his more scholarly tendencies and make a name for himself among both the Shadowhunters and Downworlders... not that the Shadowhunters would ever admit to needing the help of the sorts of mystical artifacts that Alec and Magnus now specialized in finding.

Between his Shadowhunter skills and his wife''s magic, they had managed to create a fine reputation for themselves and earn enough that the family could travel the way Alec and Magnus had dreamed of as teenagers. They'd traveled the world at least a dozen times, trying to satisfy a sense of curiosity that never seemed to fade. At least their bank accounts never suffered through their adventures.

Their kittens had decided to tag along, even if they always made comments about the honeymoon never ending for their parents. Although, Alec figured that there had been a reason for the twins tagging along. A certain green, immortal one that had been strangely nervous the night before during dinner until Lex announced that she was dating Ragnor and demanded their blessing. Ragnor looked shell shocked at the sudden declaration. Mal muttered to himself while banging his head against the table. Alec had stared at the warlock, silently warning him that there would be a 'talk' in his future. And Magnus...

Magnus had glared enough that Alec was surprised that something hadn't caught on fire from the intensity of her reaction. He wasn't quite sure why she was so worked up about it, but he'd let her deal with the situation however she wanted, keeping eye on her so that nothing did catch flame. He only became concerned when Magnus began to drink more than she should, concern turning to true worry then fear when she decided to relive a famous fairy tale and make a carpet fly.

Eventually, the four of them had managed to get her back on the ground and in bed. Alec curled up on top of the covers, holding his love while she slept it off, shooing away the kittens and Ragnor, knowing that the hangover would be bad enough without the embarrassment of having the rest of the family witnessing it.
alec_lightwood: (Nervous)
Alec was sure that those kitten eyes of doom were dangerous weapons.  How else had Mal and Lex managed to convince him to visit Magnus when what he wanted to do was forget his stupid idea and go back to the Institute to sulk?   He shouldn't have made assumptions about his memories or about Magnus when all he really knew was from the few dates he had and dreams that were becoming more common.

He didn't even know if she'd like the gifts that Lex had shoved into his hands, giving him a look that made him certain that she would know if he snuck home instead of seeing her mother.  And Mal... Mal reminded him too much of Max, serious and earnest and wanting things to be all right between Alec and Magnus.  He was doomed even before they stared at him like a pair of lost kittens.  Kittens that had eyes the same color of blue as his own.

Knowing that there was no way to avoid Magnus without hurting them, he ignored the impulse to hide at the Institute and went to the High Warlock's apartment.  Holding the larger box, he patted his pocket to make sure that the smaller one was still safe.  Taking a deep breath, he hoped his memories of Magnus were right and she - no he - would like the gifts.  Even if the presents seemed silly considering Magnus' new persona.
alec_lightwood: (Shy Smile)
Whenever Magnus stayed the night, Alec's internal clock seemed to be more aware of time.  Normally, he woke up early enough to train but when she was in his apartment, any tendency to roll over and sleep in disappeared.  Or they did whenever they slept in separate places.  But it seemed that when they were together, after having spent the night together in an intimate way that Alec had barely allowed himself to fantasize about, it seemed that he was more prone to drowse curled up with his...

Fiancee?  Could he call her that yet?  He hadn't asked her.  Not properly at least, but he had the feeling that she knew he would ask and he was certain that she would say yes.

He would have asked her the night before but he wanted Charlotte's permission to court Magna before he dared to propose.  Although, he doubted that her answer would stop Magnus from saying yes.  She'd probably insist that they elope if anyone tried to stop them from marrying.

Later in the morning, he would go to the Institute and ask, but for now he'd stay in bed, curled up with Magna.  Who seemed to be impersonating an octopus in her sleep.  Not that he minded.  Brushing his fingers through her hair, he flushed slightly as he thought of how his intentions of being a gentleman hadn't quite worked out the way he'd planned.

Not that Magnus had seemed to mind and they had saved some things for their wedding night.

Kissing her forehead, he thought of the night before and how much he loved having her in bed with him when he woke... Maybe he should ask Charlotte for permission to marry Magnus instead of to court her.

Because our Muses Always End up Naked )

"I'll make sure to get him treats to keep on his good side."  The words were accompanied by a nervous smile, sagging back against the wall as Magnus moved away.  He began to relax until he saw the towel fall away and realized that napping most likely would be done while naked.

Or while Magnus was naked and Alec was...  He wasn't sure what he was supposed to do.  "Yeah."  Pausing, he hesitated slightly before continuing.  "Do you want me to get undressed?"
